Her name was Christina Taylor Green. She loved dancing, gymnastics and baseball. She was the only girl on her Little League team. Her dream was to be the first woman in the Major Leagues. She came to see Representative Gabrielle Giffords because she had already become interested in politics. She reminded her mother, “We are so blessed. We have the best life!” As President Obama said, let us make a commitment to talk in ways that heal, intstead of ways that wound.
RIP: Christina Taylor Green. 9/11/2001 – 1/8/2011 I pray that just as she was born in the beginning of an era of violence and hatred, her passing will mark the end of that era and she will be remembered as the symbol of the beginning and end of that terrible period of time.
I want our Democracy to be as good as she imagined it. I want to do all I can to make sure our country lives up to our children’s expectations.
In Christina’s name, after having witnessed the vile hatred on videos of her, I have made a commitment to learn to honor and respect those who disagree with me. To learn to debate with an attitude of respect and logic instead of anger and ad-hominem. Who will join me?
Remember Christina! Stop the hate!
